Mana Island Fiji 2010 - Holiday!!

After the conference we went across to Mana Island by boat and had a bit of vacation or should I say better late than never honeymoon. Much better weather there. The accomodation was not 5* but I enjoyed it much more than the Intercontinental Hotel. More to do and see. This was very much a relaxing holiday nothing stressy just eat and sleep, we have done a few walks on the island though and for one who cannot swim I enjoyed snorkelling, we had wonderful sunsets, danced a few times and met lots of great people. Our neighbours were from Wellington her son was getting married in Fiji. Jean was a bit stressed and I offered to help her with the wedding. I ended up doing the girls hair and make-up, oh and photographer. We had lots of fun and laughter. It's good to be back home again - brrrrrr, too much sun is not good for the brain.

At the dinner on Saturday evening they organised an auction and raised +-$10,000 for them to build a creche onto the school. Most delegates at the Conference sponsored a child from the school and had to bring a bag of goodies for them from NZ. Four bus loads of delegates arrived at the school. You should have seen the faces of the children when they saw the gifts, it was priceless. It was a very emotional time for me to see and was privileged to be there. We are so fortunate here back home. They do not have any water at the school. There were loads of extras for the school, eg toothbrushes, lotions, sunglasses and many many more. The children gave us all a coconut as a thank you gift.
