Our Sailing Trip to the Marlborough Sounds - Jan 2011

The weather has not been too bad as you can see from the photos taken from the Sounds plane. We've been sailing the Sounds for a week already but on the 7th we leaving Chance Bay to spend the night at The Portage Resort Marina to say goodbye to Justine so she could be with a friend who had an operation. Restless night for all as it was howling with wind.

After that we went to Havelock for fuel, what an adventure we had 0.7m of water under the keel. We then took off for the French Pass. Jeff and Peter went/caught fish for dinner. We've been to so many places D'urville Island, Stevens Island, Pelorus Sound and we spent the night at Homestead Bay. We were supposed to spend the night at Resolution bay but the wind was so bad we sailed on to Milton Bay at the bay of Many Coves. I think we all slept very well. By now the bad weather's getting to me.
We sailed on to Picton to spend a couple of nights hoping the weather would improve and Peter decided to go to Wellington and spend some time with his grandson.

We hired a car and went to Blenheim for the day. Firstly we went to Aviation Museum, I can highly recommend it as a must see. Had lunch and shopped for JEFF, yes you read correct shopping for Jeff.

Today 18th January we are planning our return to HB. We decided that I will be leaving tomorrow the 19th. Wow it's good to have my feet back on the ground.

Jeff and Peter to sail back, they tried but no such luck they also flew back on the Friday the 21st. It was awesome to see and sail the soundsI was a bit unlucky with the weather and would not do that trip in a hurry. Some parts was like a washing machine but I fully trusted Jeff and Peter they are very good skippers.
